Established in the Year : (English) 1260 A.D. by Shri Soira Vittal Bhat, an astrologer, as a shrine dedicated to Lord Vittal under the patronage of the local Jain King called Savanth.

Presiding Deities : Shri Vittala, Shri Venkatraman, Shri Ugra Narasimha and Shri Bindu Madhav (the procession deity) Shri Narasimha was installed by Shrimat Vijayeendra Tirth Swamiji, the founder preceptor of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan.

Other Deities : Parivara Devas - Shri Hanuman, Shri Ganapati, Shri Laxmi, and Shri Garuda.

Important Festivals : Annual Car Festival on Shri Ramanavami (Chaitra Shudh 9) and Pratistha Poornima (Maghashira Shudh Poornima) - the installation day of Lord Narasimha celebrated annually (month of December).

Darshan Seva : Usually Darshan Seva is held on every Saturday, Sunday & Wednesday at 10:00 am. The temple has a unique record of unbroken darshan seva for the last 225 years performed by the Nayak family of Palimar, a neibhbouring village of Mulki. History and Legend:
This Temple is a rare confluence of deities. In the beginning there was a small shrine of Lord Vittal built by Soira Vittal Bhat, an astrologer under the patronage of the local Jain King the Savant of Mulki. On Account of some political disturbances people from Karkal brought their deity Lord Venkatraman over here for safe keeping. Later when they wanted to take back, the Lord appeared in dream of a devotee and expressed his desire to stay back in Mulki and assured that the people in Karkal would get another Idol from a saintly sanyasi. Thus this temple became Shri Venkatraman Temple and even today this is known in that name.

Lord Narsimha
Shri Vijayeendra Tirth Swamiji who gave deeksha to the first Swamiji of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan, miraculously came in possession of Lord Narsimha depicting very violent passion called 'Ugra' (Ferocious). He wanted to keep the Idol for himself for daily worship but in a dream the Lord appeared and ordained, "Take me to Volalanka (Mulki) and install there. I shall remain calm and fulfill the desires of all the devotees who take shelter under me". Accordingly from Kerala, with a few devotees Shri Swamiji, set out for Mulki by foot. After a few days they reached Padupanambur the capital of the Jain Kings, Savants. From here by foot the journey to Mulki was taking one hour. But by then the dusk fell. Shri Swamiji sent his men to the palace to get light for onward journey. But surprisingly the king refused as the Swamiji did not belong to his faith. Shri Swamiji with a smile said, "When the very Lord who gives light to all the three worlds is with us why should we worry? Let's continue the journey." When they had hardly crossed the outskirts of Padupanambur, the roof of the palace suddenly caught fire and the flames touched the sky. The King and his men could not extinguish the fire at all. In the glare of that light Shri Swamiji completed the journey. On Datta Jayanti Day on 23rd November 1569, Margashira Poornima (the most auspicious month according to Bhagwad Gita) Lord Narsimha was formally installed in Volalanka.

The Story further 
Here is Padupanambur, the Savant wanted to rebuild the Palace. But whenever the trees were fell for timber, they were full of charcoal. He consulted astrologers who declared that the king had incurred the wrath of Lord Narasimha. They suggested his visit to the temple to seek forgiveness. He did it and only thereafter the things became favourable. Again he visited the temple and sought a favour. The deity should pay a visit at least once a year to his palace and bless him and his family. A strange favour but long time ago his forefathers while in Mulki had patronised this temple. So it was agreed that every year Lord Vittal would pay a visit on Vanabhojan Day. Even today traversing a distance of 10 miles both ways by palanquin overnight, Lord Vittal goes to Padupanambur and receives the prayers and blesses the descendants of the Savant.

Pratishtha Poornima
The grandest festival is the annual installation day of Lord Narasimha popularly known as Pratishtha Poornima when the Lord will be brought to the middle chamber of sanctum santorum for abhishekam of more than 25,000 tender coconuts throughout the day. As the deity will be in full view that day thousands will throng and have the darshan that day. All will get as "tirth" the coconut milk of the abhishek. A rare sight and a rare prasad from the Lord. Then there will be night long Utsav with darshan seva. A chariot will be drawn and there will be grand fireworks also which are famous throughout the district. Even though it is His day, Lord Narasimha will not come out. The procession deity, Lord Bindu Madhav will represent Him during all these out-door celebrations. This is one celebration that all GSBs should participate at least once in lifetime and see the glory of God and greatness of the Samaj.

Sahasra Kumbhabhishekam
During the first week of January' 1997, for the first time in the history of the temple spanning over 700 years a 1001 silver Kalasha abhishekam took place when people in thousands participated. Both the Guru and Shisya  Swamijis of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan performed the abhishekam. Incidentally Guru Shrimat Sudhindra Tirth Swamiji, who was given sanyas deeksha by his preceptor Shrimat Sukrateendra Tirth Swamiji way back in 1944 in Mulki itself presided over the valedictory programme and declared-"Lord Ugra Narasimha of Mulki is known for answering prayers by his devotees through the path of devotion and He will never tolerate if someone tries to put his devotees into difficulties".
In many respects Mulki is a unique temple solely dedicated to religion and spiritual aspects. All Hindu fasts and festivals are religiously observed. Therefore there is no wonder if one sees here even Naga and Bhoota worship.
